Sport Development and Coaching BTEC National (level 3) Extended Certificate

There are two BTEC National courses available to choose from according to the degree of specialism in Sport that you wish to follow.

The BTEC National Extended Certificate in Sport offers a broad basis of study for the sport sector. The qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels. It is a two year course and you will study Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training, Professional Development and Leadership.

The level 2 Award in Sports Leadership will be completed as part of both these qualifications and level 3 Sports Leadership as part of the 2nd year of the Extended Diploma.

Additional
Grade 4 in GCSE Maths, English and Science or the equivalent in other qualifications e.g. BTEC Extended Certificate, and an interest in sport.
Assessment
BTEC Nationals in 2017 will use both internal and external testing. The external testing will include written examinations and set written tasks of a vocational nature.
Progression
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate is widely accepted and accredited by the great majority of universities as an excellent foundation for degree. The aim of this course is to give the student an opportunity to investigate the breadth of the industry, so that they are able to make informed choices regarding future employment opportunities such as: provision of individual / group sports activities, health promotion, coaching/instructing of specialist groups and community development. The course is also very suitable for progression to Higher Education courses in sports development, management and coaching, but also actively supports all variety of subject combinations.
