Hospitality and Event Management BTEC National (level 3) Extended Certificate

This is a one or two year programme which investigates the ever expanding and diverse Hospitality Industry. As well as focusing on the hotel and catering sectors, we also concentrate on events management, which combines many aspects of hospitality. We provide you with the opportunity to not only learn about this exciting and thriving industry, but also to organise your own events. You will study units in The Hospitality Industry, Providing Customer Service in Hospitality (which includes representing the College at a number of events), Events Organisation, Planning and Managing an Event and completing an Industry related project on an area of your choice. The course has been planned so that students will cover the units required for achieving the certificate level at the end of year one. Different aspects of the industry are explored by visiting organisations and inviting speakers into college. The course offers opportunities for students to be innovative and develop their interpersonal and research skills. These transferable skills will help career choices in either higher education or employment.

Additional
A grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language, or at least a Merit grade in BTEC First Diploma in Hospitality.
Assessment
There will be a combination of internally assessed projects and assignments, together with externally assessed examined units. Grades of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* are awarded, which are equivalent to A levels for the purpose of university entrance.
Progression
Higher education or employment in a variety of areas within the industry. Many Universities offer well established Events Management courses, which a number of our 2nd year students have already secured places on.

This course offers a huge variety of future opportunities in the hospitality and events industry either at home or abroad and at many different levels.
