Drama and Theatre A Level

Drama and Theatre A Level

Our ethos is really important to us; we’re here as artists and practitioners to work alongside and to encourage and develop young artists and practitioners. The course aims to develop your understanding and your appreciation of theatre and drama as powerful tools in the examination of human interaction, and to respond in a personal and creative way. We offer a unique development programme with the aim of creating a first class performance preparation training course that is underpinned by academic rigour and depth of reflection. You will be challenged to work to professional standards of creative collaboration. You will analyse and evaluate performances, published-texts and your own practice, developing your understanding of the social and historical context of drama and theatre in performance. You will study a range of key theatrical practitioners and apply their theories to your own practical work whilst honing your performance skills and advancing your craft. Regular theatre visits are a vital part of this course. We are a department of collaboration, creation and innovation and as a drama student you will be involved in the lively artistic life of the College as a ClassAction practitioner. A mature and committed approach is required, and there are high expectations of students on this course, with the opportunity to perform with the best at the very highest level.
