Film Studies AS and A Level
In this course students will learn how meaning is created in film by the use of cinematography, lighting, framing, mise-en-scene, music, editing, genre and narrative. They will also learn how films are critically recognised culturally and historically, in both the US and Europe, by studying a range of texts over a variety of time periods.
Students will have the opportunity to explore creative film-making options, but please note that this is not primarily a practical film-making course.
Entry requirements: Grade 4 in English, Film or Media Studies. There is a substantial essay writing component to this course.
Course assessment: Written examinations and practical coursework.
