Information Technology CTEC (Level 3) Introductory Diploma

Information Technology CTEC (Level 3) Introductory Diploma

There are two Cambridge Technical courses available to choose from according to the degree of specialism, in IT that you wish to follow. These courses are designed to provide a very ‘hands on’ approach to IT and there will be opportunities for work experience.

The Introductory Diploma (equivalent to one A level)

The two-year study programme is divided into five units: four mandatory, externally assessed units that provide a basic grounding in IT and one unit from four specialist pathways which include units such as Games Design Prototyping, Web Design, Application (Animation/Graphic) Design and Computer Hardware. You will have an opportunity to develop your employability skills and communication in IT – via classwork and work experience as well as improving your study, presentation and research skills.

Additional
Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and Mathematics.
Assessment
There will be a combination of internally assessed projects and assignments, together with externally assessed examined units. Grades of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* are awarded which are equivalent to A levels for the purpose of university entrance.
Progression
Demand for ICT personnel is increasing; consequently job opportunities for well-qualified individuals are high. An ever-increasing number of degree related courses and apprenticeships are now available to extend your understanding and operation of ICT. In many cases IT degree courses are combined with another subject to take advantage of the specialised industries that exploit the use of ICT.
