Information Technology BTEC National (Level 3) Diploma

Comprising of twelve units, this qualification has three core units in Communications and Employability Skills, Computer Systems and Information Systems. In addition, you will have the opportunity to choose specialist units such as Computer Games Design, Project Planning with IT, Installing and Upgrading Software and Multimedia Design.The full qualification will take two years to complete and is equivalent to two A Levels. It is designed to ensure that you will cover the units to obtain the Extended Certificate at the end of one year. This course is designed to provide a very ‘hands on’ approach to IT and will include work experience.

Additional
Grade 4 in GCSE English and Maths.
Assessment
All units are internally assessed projects and assignments, Grades of Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* are awarded which are equivalent to A levels for the purpose of university entrance.
Progression
Demand for IT and Computing personnel is increasing; consequently career opportunities for well-qualified individuals are high. An ever-increasing number of degree related courses and apprenticeships are now available to extend your under-standing and operation of IT. In many cases IT and Computing degree courses are combined with another subject to take advantage of the specialised industries that exploit the use of IT.
