The Informed Choices Leaflet
published by the Russell Group of Universities contains some sound advice about course choices, but it should be read very carefully. The Warning! and Attention!! Banners can be misleading – the important messages lie in the body of the leaflet.
It is worth remembering that the Russell Group of universities is not a definitive list of the top universities. St Andrews, Bath and Sussex to name but a few, are not members of the Russell Group but still regularly feature in the top 25 universities in the UK.
Most important is that individuals choose the courses, both at Sixth Form and at University, that suit them best, matching talents and realistic academic aspirations. Students perform best on courses that they have a genuine interest in and which they are committed to.
