Studying Music A-level at Godalming College has been one of the best decisions that I’ve made. Everyone in the department is friendly and welcoming and in that sense, it creates a small Music family where everyone works together. I did not take Music GCSE but I can say now; that I probably didn’t have to, thanks to the teachers in the department who are excellent. The Music course here has helped me broaden my knowledge of Music from learning how to analyse scores to creating my own compositions, both I would not have been able to do had I not taken this subject.
I came to Godalming College to be able to study Music A-Level in a large and collaborative environment. I enjoy being part of the music department particularly when all of the Choirs, Bands and Orchestra perform and make Music together. Here at Godalming College I have
had a handful of wonderful opportunities from directing the string group to singing in Choirs and recently being asked to conduct a fellow student’s work in Orchestra, all of which has helped me to become a better Musician. All of the Musical experiences I’ve had have helped me along the way to realise that I want to do Music as a career and I can say that Godalming College had a part to play in that.
Outside of College I have had the opportunity to be the Principle Violist of Surrey County Youth Orchestra and Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra as well being invited as a guest player with various other Orchestras. This year I decided to try out for Music Conservatoire and after passing the audition stages I managed to walk away with a few places. I have been offered a Scholarship to study Viola at Trinity Laban Conservatoire which I am looking forward to very much.
