"When I left school it was a natural progression for me to go to Godalming College, I lived locally and the college had an amazing reputation, I couldn’t wait to attend! I really enjoyed my time at Godalming due to the friendly teachers and welcoming atmosphere. I got on well with all of my teachers, they took an interest in me as an individual and it was obvious they cared about their students as people, instead of just the grades we achieved. I studied Business Studies, Psychology and Photography for my A-Levels, and had great fun whilst doing so. I liked the challenge of my more academic studies alongside the more creative challenges of photography.

I first heard about the company CGI when they came to college and did a talk in the October of my AS year. My business teacher advertised the talk to my class, and I thought that it would be interesting to attend when I discovered they were offering Sponsored Degrees. Going to university never really appealed to me because it costs so much money, and I felt that it wouldn’t completely satisfy me, so the idea of the degree being sponsored and working full-time alongside studying sounded amazing. On attending the talk I discovered that the individuals on the Sponsored Degree Programme attend Winchester University one day a week, and work the other four days in one of CGI’s offices, or on a client location. As well as the degree being paid for completely, a good salary would also be paid. It sounded like an amazing opportunity with the best of both worlds, no student debt, great experience, and a degree! I applied online for the Business Management for IT degree, and was invited to attend one of three applicant days in CGI’s Reading office. About two weeks later I got a phone call saying I was successful and had made it onto the programme!

Godalming College has prepared me well for the next chapter in my life, and has given me the confidence that I can do anything I put my mind to."
