On Friday 28th June our Lower Sixth Games Developers, after just finishing their games pitches to SuperMassive Games, headed off with their Industry Day invites to the first ever Guildford Games Festival at GLive in Guildford.
The day was filled with meeting and speaking to Guildford’s Game professionals, exploring new games and technologies whilst also looking back at the development of Guildford as one of the major games hubs in the world. We also had a great time playing all the games – weird and wacky and new and old technologies.
We ended the extremely hot and beautiful day with our guide Hugh from Guildford Tourist Office who took us on the Alan Turing Tour of Guildford. Alan Turing was a British scientist, mathematician, cryptanalyst …. and a pioneer in computer science. During World War II, he developed a machine that helped break the German Enigma code. He also laid the groundwork for modern computing and theorized about artificial intelligence. Most recently Alan was named the most ‘iconic’ figure of the 20th century. We were able to see the family home and hear about some of the key moments in his life.
On returning to GLive there was just time to resume the gameplay at the Festival!
