Performing Arts has been a constant interest throughout my lifetime. By coming to Godalming, I hoped to be given the tools that would further my skills as a performer and leave me equipped with the means to continue my training beyond Godalming. The success of my audition process this year is proof how the Performing Arts course is beneficial for students wanting to pursue a career in the arts.

As well as taking Performing Arts I am also studying Drama and Media Studies. Because of my love for Drama and Performing Arts, I wanted to take full advantage of the extra opportunities that Godalming has to offer such as becoming a member of ClassAction theatre. Through this I have participated in productions such as Earthquakes in London, Grounded, Spring Awakening, The Believers, Cabaret and a physical theatre adaptation of Romeo and Juliet where I assumed the role of Dance Captain and toured the show to local schools.

Godalming has given me such a great platform to meet with others who also share such an enthusiastic outlook on Performing Arts. This has been really refreshing and has pushed me further as a performer. I don’t think I would have found this if I stayed at my sixth form. College has also been able to broaden my knowledge and understanding of the industry as a whole, opening me up to different styles and genres of theatre that have enhanced my work.

Since being at Godalming I have had numerous recalls at top drama schools and I have been offered a place on the Musical Theatre Foundation course at Guildford School of Acting – where I will train for a year before hopefully doing a three year
BA Hons course. Godalming has been so beneficial for me as well as being very enjoyable. I would highly recommend the course to anyone who wants to make the next step from secondary education to professional training.
