Encouraging sustainable living

At the beginning of March in our wellbeing week, the Greening Godalming +Explore group held a market stall of ethic products and clothes swap in the social study area of College.

Our lovely friends from For Earth's Sake in Cranleigh came, they regularly supply College staff with refillable products directly via our Greening Godalming leader and Head of French Fredie Lecerf.

Gemma Cockell from Puremess was also available with her gorgeous skin care products in non plastic but also to raise awareness on what we put on skin. Gemma is a biology teacher (not at Godalming) and after surviving breast cancer, twice, she started looking at what ingredients are in most skincare and decide to make her own, pure versions, with no nasty stuff!

We also had The Clever Cactus, making fabric face pads for instance or washable kitchen towel, washable fabric sandwich wraps from Bizzy Bees to avoid having to use cling or foil, solitary bee houses donated by friend working with Plantlife UK (rewilding spaces) and more local artisans all with the same sustainable aim.

However the most exciting was what the students made & organised: beeswax wraps with fabrics donated by the textiles department, display on sustainability AND a first clothes swap. If mothers of College students received sustainable Mothers Day presents this was no coincidence!
