Josh Parsons

It's Magic

Former student Josh Parsons has been accepted into the coveted Magic Circle after an audition where the president of the Magic Circle, Noel Britten said “He shared his magic, rather than just showed it, which is a great talent.”

After being interviewed by Channel 5, ITN and featuring in The Times, Josh paid a visit to the College and the Learning Support Team to share some of his magic.  The team where delighted to see him and find out about his success since leaving College

Josh who was left with hemiplegia after a brain injury during a childhood operation, was introduced to magic as a therapy to improve symptoms of his condition.  After a gruelling 10 day intensive course, run jointly by the Breathe Arts Health Research charity and magicians from the Magic Circle Josh found an 80% improvement of his weaker hand and new found magical skills which have amazed professional magicians.

“Picking up the balls in a cups and balls routine helped me develop the grasp to do up a zip,” he recalled. “Turning over a card is like pouring a drink. I hadn’t been able to do that” says Josh

Josh is now not only performing his magic wherever he goes but is also returning to the intensive magician camp as a mentor to inspire others with similar conditions.
