At Godalming College we are pleased to offer both the Silver and Gold DofE Award.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is all about gaining new skills, pushing yourself physically, helping others and exploring new things. Join over 80 students here working towards their Silver and Gold Awards.
It is a great way to make new friends, have fun and your teamwork and leadership skills will impress future employers and universities. Beyond your academic achievements, universities and employers want to see evidence of so called ‘soft skills’ that you have developed through extra-curricular activities, such as communication, commitment, leadership and teamwork. Your DofE Award is a fantastic way to demonstrate and evidence these skills in practice. You’ll also make a difference to other people’s lives and your community, be fitter and healthier and have memories to last you a lifetime.
Our participants also tell us that doing their DofE gives them character traits like confidence and resilience, that can boost their mental health and wellbeing and help them face and overcome personal challenges.
A typical Gold expedition at Godalming will consist of a Practice and training in Dartmoor and Qualifying Expedition in the Lake district. For Silver Award we do our Practice locally in the North Downs and our Qualifying Expedition in the New Forest. The Godalming DofE team will support you throughout your programme here and help plan your expeditions. We supply tents and cooking equipment, maps and can loan out ruck sacks.
Take the challenge, we look forward to meeting you!
