My choice of A Levels was very much influenced by my desire to ultimately move in the direction of engineering or computing. For both these fields it was clear that doing both A Level Maths and Further Maths was required or highly desirable.
The Maths teachers at College have all been super helpful and friendly. I can always go to them for help. I’ve enjoyed the atmosphere in the class and I’ve made some good friends in my Maths lessons. Some exercises are collaborative, such as working in pairs to work through a problem. I’ve loved these.
All the lessons are well structured, with notes and exercises available for students. In addition to the classes, the department offers additional drop-in sessions. These are particularly helpful for the tricky subjects. Godalming Online is full of resources, particularly practice questions and past papers. There’s more than enough to prepare for benchmark tests and exams.
Studying Maths is a real test of mental agility. It’s taught me to think fast, and to work out what’s important and relevant to getting to the answer. It’s taught me to think creatively through different routes to solving problems and figuring out which route leads to dead ends versus which leads to the answer.
I ultimately applied to study Engineering at university. Visiting university open days confirmed that studying Maths & Further Maths at Godalming was definitely the right choice and it will make the first year of uni a bit easier.
