True Adventure trip to Zambia

This year's True Adventure trip took our intrepid students to Zambia.  We started with a week undertaking a community project in a rural school near Lake Kariba.  Working with the charity School Club Zambia, the students were tasked with extending the school allotment; building a sturdier metal fence around the allotment to stop livestock eating the produce as well as digging beds and planting vegetables.  To complete this, our students collaborated with a team of students from the school.  The hope was that the sale of vegetables grown would raise money for the school to buy badly needed resources.  Everyone had a good go at learning some Tonga (the local language) and students also helped do some teaching in the school.  It was an amazing experience, particularly learning about the Zambian culture.  The open air 'showers' under African sunsets were a big hit too!

Following this, we headed to Livingstone where we undertook a 3 day trek along the Zambezi river.  Here we were introduced to many of the Zambian birds and wildlife, as well as joining in with local villagers and trying some Zambian dancing.  We visited the amazing Victoria Falls and the grand finale was a safari in Chobe National Park in Botswana where we were privileged to see many of the large African wildlife.  This really was the icing on the cake of a fabulous trip!
