We both chose Physics because we knew that it was necessary for the course we were aspiring to do at university, Diagnostic Radiotherapy. We have found it really interesting, more than we realised and it is fascinating how much of it applies to real life.
Initially it was a little intimidating because we don’t take Maths A Level, but we have an additional class, Maths for Physics, which has been very useful. We also attended the drop-in Physics workshops, which we have found incredibly helpful because we can ask specific questions about the things we are
struggling to understand.
There are practical experiments every week, we are now confident about collecting data and interpreting results. It is very helpful as you see the physical effects of the theory that you are learning. In the second
year there are optional topics which provide the opportunity to explore the applications of Physics and build independent learning skills which will be useful in the future at university. We have really enjoyed the freedom of being able to study topics that have been interesting and useful.
