I chose A Level Biology because I loved it at GCSE, I’ve always found the subject interesting and wanted to learn more. At Godalming, the Biology department is incredible, through the last 2 years the amount of support and encouragement I’ve received has been so helpful. I didn’t know what I wanted to do after College, but while learning about immunology and gene technologies, I realised that studying pharmacology at uni would be a perfect fit. Throughout my time at Godalming there have been multiple challenging topics and concepts to learn; The staff in the department have been so helpful throughout, running multiple revision and exam technique sessions throughout the week, and my personal favourite, a workshop about challenging topics outside of the specification to widen my biological knowledge. Biology linked in well with my other subjects (Maths and Chemistry) as certain topics crossed over and my knowledge felt whole. I feel so lucky to have been surrounded by such great, inspiring people, both staff and students in my time at Godalming, helping me see alternative points of view and insightful new methods. Some of my most favourite lessons in Biology were doing required practical’s. It was interesting, and useful for me to develop lab skills that would set me up for my future studies. From the first months of College, you get thrown into benchmarks to track progress and see what you need to focus on for next time, which admittedly appears very daunting, but I think it's helped me so much with exam technique, learning how to revise effectively and making sure I use the correct terminology. I really recommend Biology; It is a great subject. I could not have done it without the amazing staff at Godalming.
